THC Lotion
If you’ve visited our physical store and are always walking past the topicals section, it’s time to consider adding them to your cannabis collection. Not sure where to begin? You’ve come to the right page! Here’s the ultimate guide to THC lotion, including what to expect, its potential health benefits, and where to get one.
What Is THC?
Tetrahydrocannabinol(THC) is a cannabinoid present in the cannabis plant responsible for the psychoactive effects users experience from taking weed.
What Is THC Lotion?
THC lotions are skincare products that provide an additional effect to your body other than hydration. THC lotion ingredients are similar to regular lotions in that they contain plant butter and emulsifiers like arnica. The primary difference is that the product also includes cannabis-infused oil. These products come in different THC concentrations, and popular brands include Mary’s Medicinals and Papa & Barkley.
What To Expect When Using THC Lotion
THC lotion has a different delivery system from the one that occurs when you light up a blunt or eat an edible. As you may well know, your body has an endocannabinoid system (ECS) that modulates emotional receptors like pain.
This ECS also produces endocannabinoids that bind to two receptors known as CB1 and CB2. THC also acts similarly to these natural endocannabinoids by binding itself as well. This process allows THC to get into your bloodstream through the nerves.
However, in the case of THC lotion, a topical, the THC only acts on the epidermis. Therefore, you’ll likely feel the effect on your skin—for instance, pain relief or reduced itching. Do not expect to get high on THC lotion. It’s worth noting that this topical product may affect a drug test. Therefore, it would be wise to skip it on the days leading to the test.
DIY THC Lotion
Ideally, we recommend visiting our shop for THC lotion with the right strength to guarantee medicinal benefits. Even so, you can still make one for recreational use.

10g of ground weed
? cup olive oil
1½ cups of coconut oil
? cup beeswax
Muslin cloth
Saucepan
Glass bottle
Baking sheet
Steps
Preheat oven to 115 degrees Celsius
Place your ideal strain on the baking sheet and put it in the oven for half an hour to activate the compounds
Place the oils in the saucepan and stir on low heat
Add the weed to this mixture and leave it to fuse with the oils for approximately twenty minutes
Transfer the contents to the glass jar while using the muslin cloth as a filter
Heat the beeswax on the saucepan, still under low heat settings
Once the beeswax melts, add the cannabis-infused oil onto the pan
Voilà! Your THC lotion is ready for use
Tip: Consider adding aloe vera gel for a lighter consistency. Also, adding essential oils like lavender could give your THC lotion a pleasant scent.
Health Benefits of Using THC Lotion
What can THC lotion do?
1. Chronic pain
Anecdotal evidence shows that patients suffering from chronic and neuropathic pain may benefit from THC lotion. Additionally, a 2017 study on _Cannabis as a Substitute for Opioid-Based Pain Medication _ found that 81% of patients “strongly agreed that taking cannabis by itself was more effective at treating their condition than taking cannabis with opioids.”
2. Skin disorders
A 2017 article posted on the National Eczema Association explained how THC lotion and other cannabis-infused topicals could relieve eczema symptoms. Typically, people with eczema experience itching, bumps, and dryness. Once you apply THC lotion, the cannabinoids interact with the skin releasing the product’s anti-itch effect.
THC also produces antimicrobial effects that help to minimize Staphylococcus aureus strain multiplication which aggravates eczema symptoms. Furthermore, a study on atopic dermatitis in rodents found that the activation of CB1 receptors produced an anti-inflammatory effect.
3. Wounds
Studies have found that THC topicals could help in treating malignant wounds. Moreover, the use of THC is helpful if suffering from antibiotic resistance.
4. Headaches and migraines
While there’s a need for further scientific research, studies have found that applying THC topicals to your temples could offer headache and migraine relief.
Variations of THC Lotions
Other than THC lotions, other topicals exist that offer similar benefits.
1. Lip balm
Cannabis-infused lip balms are an excellent topical product, especially since the skin in this area allows faster delivery. The anti-viral properties in THC could help relieve cold sores.
2. Massage oil
Massage oils tend to have essential oils like tea tree and peppermint that already offer medicinal benefits. Adding THC/CBD to the mix provides additional benefits such as joint pain relief and reducing menstrual cramps.
3. Transdermal patches
Transdermal patches are the go-to solution if you’re looking for long-lasting medicinal benefits. You need to stick them on a pulse point and leave them on for up to twelve hours to enjoy the benefits.
Plus, ensure your skin is clean before placing the patches. Ideally, you might want to use these topicals on weekends or if you plan to travel for long hours to avoid taking them out before your skin fully absorbs them.
4. Transdermal gels
Now, these topicals are on the higher strength scale. So if lotions and creams aren’t offering the expected benefits, transdermal gels have got you covered. Furthermore, they are hydrating and often contain menthol, which provides an additional desired effect.
Like patches, it’s best to apply them on pulse points. What’s more, due to their quick absorption, these gels are ideal if you have eczema.
5. Suppositories
If you are feeling risqué, then suppositories are right up your alley. You can use these products as topicals or insert them. The idea is to insert them and wait for about fifteen minutes until they dissolve.
